Case Study 023: K.M.
Introduction: In March 2023, an 18-year-old female patient, K.M., presented with scoliosis characterized by an s-curve. The curvature was measured at 47 degrees on the top right curve and 20 degrees for the bottom left curve. The patient reported symptoms including a straight neck and uneven shoulders.
Treatment Approach: K.M. underwent a 2-week intensive care treatment plan, which included spinal and neck traction treatment, disc hydration treatment, and natural neck c-curve restoration treatment. The treatment aimed to address the pain and discomfort associated with scoliosis and to improve the curvature of the spine.
Exercise Regimen: Along with the treatment, K.M. was prescribed a series of posture correction exercises and spinal flexibility exercises. These exercises were designed to support the treatment process and to further alleviate the symptoms of scoliosis.
Outcomes: Post-treatment assessments showed a reduction in the curvature of K.M.’s spine. The top right curve decreased to 31 degrees, and the bottom left curve to 15 degrees. The patient also reported a decrease in pain and an improvement in shoulder alignment.
Conclusion: The case of K.M. demonstrates the potential effectiveness of combined treatment methods in managing scoliosis. The reduction in spinal curvature and alleviation of pain highlight the importance of a comprehensive treatment approach. Further studies are recommended to evaluate the long-term outcomes of similar treatment plans.
