Case Study 027: Y.T.
Clinical Presentation: Patient Y.T., a 51-year-old female, presented in July 2019 with a complex case of scoliosis. She exhibited a left hip elevation of 5 degrees higher than the right side and a right middle c-curve of 87 degrees. Symptoms included uneven shoulders, posture leaning to one side, spinal rotation, visible rib hump, back pain, straight neck, and shoulder pain.
Treatment Protocol: The treatment plan for Y.T. included a 2-week intensive care treatment focusing on scoliosis management. This comprised of disc hydration treatment, spinal and neck traction therapy, natural neck c-curve restoration treatment, and activation of dormant muscle layers. Additionally, posture correction exercises and core strengthening exercises were prescribed. An order-made corset was recommended for continued support and management of scoliosis-related pain.
Outcomes: Y.T.’s curvature was reduced 87 to 77 degrees. Treatments improved back health, lessened curvature and neck straightness. The therapy eased shoulder discomfort, enhanced spinal function, and corrected posture. Strengthened core muscles aided in pain management and preventing further curvature. An order-made corset was recommended for ongoing spinal support.
Conclusion: The treatment of patient Y.T.’s scoliosis resulted in a 10-degree reduction in spinal curvature and symptomatic relief, highlighting the effectiveness of an integrated treatment strategy over a course of two weeks.
