Case Study 028: K.H.
Introduction: Patient K.H., a 57-year-old female, presented with a significant s-curve scoliosis characterized by a 45-degree curvature on the top right and a 31-degree curvature on the bottom left. The patient reported symptoms including: back pain, arm pain, shoulder pain, chest pain, uneven shoulders, limited torso mobility, and a straight neck.
Treatment Approach: An intensive care treatment plan spanning 2 weeks was implemented, focusing on pain alleviation and curvature correction. This included an order-made corset, spinal and neck traction, disc hydration, and natural neck c-curve restoration treatments. Posture correction and spinal flexibility exercises were also prescribed.
Outcome: Post-treatment assessments revealed a reduction in curvature to 30 degrees for both the top right and bottom left curves. The patient experienced a decrease in pain and an improvement in torso mobility.
Discussion: The treatment’s success is attributed to the comprehensive approach targeting both scoliosis correction and pain management. The custom corset played a crucial role in supporting the spine, while traction and hydration treatments addressed underlying disc issues.
Conclusion: The case of K.H. demonstrates the effectiveness of a versatile treatment approach in managing scoliosis and associated pain. Continued monitoring and adjustments to the treatment plan are recommended to maintain the improvements achieved.
