Case Study 014: K.N.
Introduction: In November 2022, a case study was conducted on a 10-year-old female patient, K.N., presenting with scoliosis. The patient exhibited an s-curve with a 40-degree curvature on the top right side and a 32-degree curvature on the bottom left side. Notable symptoms included back pain, spinal rotation, uneven shoulders, and a posture leaning into the curve. The patient’s right hip was elevated by 2 degrees compared to the left side.
Treatment Before Intervention: Prior to treatment, K.N. experienced significant discomfort, with pain being a primary concern. The spinal traction and inflammation associated with her condition necessitated a comprehensive treatment approach. The patient’s straight neck and the severity of the spinal curvature were indicative of the need for immediate intervention.
Treatment Administered: K.N. underwent a 2-week intensive care treatment plan, which included spinal and neck traction, as well as muscle training. Exercises focused on posture correction, natural c curve restoration, and core strengthening were implemented to address the underlying issues of scoliosis.
Outcomes: Post-treatment, K.N.’s spinal curvature showed marked improvement. The top right side curvature was reduced to 30 degrees, and the bottom left side curvature was reduced to 18 degrees. These changes indicate a positive response to the spinal traction and muscle training regimen.
Conclusion: The treatment administered to K.N. resulted in a reduction of pain and an improvement in spinal curvature. This case highlights the effectiveness of spinal traction, muscle training, and targeted exercises in the treatment of scoliosis in young patients. Further monitoring of K.N.’s condition will be necessary to ensure long-term management of her scoliosis.
