Case Study 029: T.A.

Clinical Presentation and Patient Profile: Patient T.A., an 11-year-old female, presented in August 2023 with an S-curve scoliosis. The curvature was measured at 67 degrees on the top right curve and 36 degrees on the bottom left curve. Symptoms included uneven shoulders, posture leaning to one side, spinal rotation, and a straight neck.

Treatment: The patient underwent a 2-week intensive care treatment plan, which included spinal and neck traction therapy, disc hydration treatment, and dormant muscle layer activation. An order-made corset was also recommended for T.A. to aid in the correction of the spinal curvature.

Exercises: T.A. was prescribed posture correction exercises and abdominal strengthening exercises to support the spine and improve overall posture.

Outcomes: Post-treatment assessments showed a reduction in the curvature to 51 degrees on the top right curve and 30 degrees on the bottom left curve. The patient reported a decrease in pain and an improvement in posture.

Conclusion: The treatment and exercise regimen resulted in a significant improvement in T.A.’s scoliosis condition, demonstrating the effectiveness of the prescribed treatment and exercises in managing scoliosis-related pain and curvature.
