Introduction: The patient, M.N., a 56-year-old female, presented in March 2012 with a right c-curve of 90 degrees, indicative of severe scoliosis. The left hip was observed to be 5 degrees higher than the right side. The patient reported a range of symptoms including headaches, dizziness, difficulty sleeping, forgetfulness, stress, chest pain, tinnitus, indigestion, cold hands and feet, knee numbness, back pain, spinal rotation, and uneven shoulders.
Treatment: The treatment plan included 2 weeks of intensive care treatment. This involved spinal and neck traction therapy, dormant muscle activation, and disc hydration treatment. The patient was also recommended an order-made corset. Alongside these treatments, the patient was advised to perform posture correction exercises.
Outcome: Following the 2-week intensive treatment, the patient’s curvature was reduced to 67 degrees, a significant improvement from the initial 90-degree curvature. This reduction in curvature was accompanied by a decrease in the patient’s symptoms, indicating a successful treatment outcome.
Conclusion: The case of M.N. shows that intensive care, encompassing therapies like spinal traction, muscle activation, and disc hydration, can potentially manage scoliosis and related pain. More studies are required for validation and to investigate long-term impacts.
